Rules
General Governance & Roster Limits
FIFA rules alignment: matches follow current FIFA rules and regulations, adjusted for the 7-a-side tournament structure. Squad sizes: • Open category — maximum 12 players per squad • 35+ category — maximum 14 players per squad Roster changes: exactly one player can be changed on the submitted roster prior to the deadline.
Player Verification & Residency Requirements
Key deadline: all player IDs must be verified through the ClubVerse app before September 11, 2026 at 11:59 PM. Primary requirement: a valid state-issued ID. Age verification (35+ category only): • Texas Driver's License • If unavailable: a valid passport Alternative address verification — if a valid state ID is unavailable, two (2) forms of official documentation are strictly required during verification: • Proof of residency or I-20 form • Utility statement or bank statement (must log in live on verification day to present proof — no photocopies allowed)
Venue Reporting, Timings & Forfeits
Reporting time: teams must report to the venue at least 30 minutes prior to their first match. Field readiness: teams must be present on the designated field 5 minutes prior to start time. Forfeit rule: if a team fails to field at least 5 players within 2 minutes past start time, the opposing team may choose to: • Play with full squad • Match the available player count • Claim a forfeit victory (3-0 scoreline)
Kits, Uniforms & Equipment
Jersey numbers: players must wear their assigned printed numbers on their back. Number swapping is strictly prohibited and results in immediate team suspension. Exception: goalkeeper jersey swap if injured/unable to continue (referee/organizer must be notified). Colors & conflicts: all squad members must wear matching jersey colors (2 sets recommended). In case of a color clash, the earlier-registered team wears their kit, while the other wears organizer-provided bibs. Goalkeeper colors must contrast with both teams. Mandatory equipment: shin guards are required for all players. NO METAL STUD CLEATS allowed under any circumstances.
Match Gameplay & Rules
Format: 7 players per side on the field. Unlimited substitutions permitted from the center line with referee consent. Tournament structure: group stage followed by knockout rounds, semi-finals and final. Two halves per match (times TBD) with a 5-minute halftime break. Offsides: there are NO offsides. Set pieces: • Free kicks — direct goals are allowed • Corner kicks — direct goals are allowed • Throw-ins — direct goals are NOT allowed; ball must be released within 5 seconds Slide tackling: NO SLIDE TACKLES allowed. Card issuance is at the referee's discretion.
Standings, Tiebreakers & Extra Time
Group stage tiebreaker criteria (in order): 1. Head-to-head points between the tied teams 2. Head-to-head goal difference 3. Head-to-head goals scored 4. Overall goal difference in all group matches 5. Overall goals scored in all group matches 6. Fair play / team conduct: • Yellow card: −1 • Second yellow / indirect red: −3 • Direct red: −4 • Yellow + direct red: −5 Knockout stage ties: matches go straight to a penalty shootout. Extra time (5 mins per half) is played ONLY in the semi-finals and final, prior to penalty shootouts.
Discipline, Cards & Organizer Authority
Cards & suspensions: a red card or 2 yellow cards in a single match results in suspension for the remainder of that match (no replacement) PLUS the next match. The team may replace the suspended player in the squad for subsequent matches. Playing a suspended player results in immediate tournament ejection. All cards reset for the quarter-finals. Conduct & misconduct: fights, exaggerated arguments, or disturbing behavior on or off the field cause immediate team suspension. Referee & management authority: the referee's decision on the pitch is FINAL. Tournament management reserves the right to verify player residency at any time and holds final authority on all disputes and unpredicted situations.
